What Happens During a PRP Treatment?

Platelet-rich plasma or PRP treatment involves drawing blood from your arm, isolating the platelets, and then injecting those platelets into your face, scalp or vagina.

A PRP Facial dramatically reduces wrinkles, scar tissue, sun damage, and dark circles and leaves you with a glowing, vibrant complexion. Plasma stimulates collagen production and is high in growth hormone, which encourages cell turnover. This fast cell turnover gives your skin an immediate dewy appearance. Collagen production takes a while, therefore, you may not see your full wrinkle-fighting results for several months. However, this increased collagen production can last for up to two years. Many have described the PRP facial as “a mini-facelift”.

PRP for Hair Regrowth works with your body’s natural healing process to stimulate hair follicles that are beginning to shrink, which can occur as you age, regardless of your gender. Injecting plasma into the scalp can stimulate denser and thicker hair growth, and it is especially effective in the early stages of thinning. Treatment is usually repeated monthly, for two to six months.

PRP for Vaginal Rejuvenation involves injecting plasma into the clitoris and the upper walls of the vagina. This triggers new collagen and elastin production, which may lead to increased sensitivity and less vaginal dryness. PRP will also firm the skin in the vaginal area, making it appear younger for up to a year.

Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment

What is the PRP procedure like?

First, we draw a tube or two of your blood —pretty much the amount drawn for any routine blood test. Next, we run it through a centrifuge to separate and activate the platelets, which takes about 20 minutes. At Bella Lei, we use Eclipse Med, which is the only machine FDA-approved for PRP treatments.

For facial PRP and hair regrowth, the treatment area will be cleansed and topically numbed. Then, just as in microneedling, we will use a Skin Pen (a rolling device with short, tiny needles)to create thousands of minuscule pricks and deliver the PRP to the area.

For vaginal PRP, we will apply a topical numbing cream before injecting the plasma into very specific areas in and around your vagina.

The entire procedure takes about an hour.

Human blood is composed of four main elements: plasma, red and white blood cells, and platelets. The platelets include proteins, which are vital in mending wounds and injuries and supporting the formation of blood clots.

A PRP application or injection has an extremely high concentration of platelets, making it five to ten times more potent than anything typically found in human blood. It also contains cytokines, which activate the healing of soft tissue.

Stem cells possess the  ability to transform into virtually any cell in the body and can promote rapid healing and recovery when applied to damaged skin or bone.
